UPMC is seeking nurses interested in embarking on an international work experience in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The Staff Nurse provides highly competent patient care and treatment while demonstrating empathy and a passion for learning. A role that requires independent judgment, fluent communication, and candid partnership, the Staff Nurse establishes relationships with physicians, other care providers, patients, and patients’ families in order to achieve desired patient outcomes throughout the continuum of care.

For this unique opportunity, UPMC will cover Immigration cost, up to three months of housing and relocation assistance.

UPMC will sponsor and pay for the immigration and credentialling processes. As the immigration and credentialling process can be lengthy, UPMC may be able to offer employment within IRCCS ISMETT or other Center of UPMC Italy group, depending on local temporary vacancies for a year or longer while th US process moves forward.

With facilities in Sicily, Campania, Lazio and Tuscany, UPMC Italy (the Italian division of UPMC) is a leader in patient care, biomedical research, telemedicine, IT development and consulting services in areas related to medicine and research. UPMC Italy’s clinical and scientific activity mainly focuses on transplantation
and oncology, but also includes other specialties: from emergency medicine to neurosurgery, from preventive medicine to cardiac surgery.

IRCCS ISMETT, Istituto Mediterraneo per i Trapianti e Terapie ad Alta Specializzazione, is a multi-organ transplant center and high-specialty hospital, established by means of an International not-for-profit public-private partnership between the Region of Sicily, the Ri.MED Foundation, and UPMC, which manages IRCCS ISMETT.
IRCCS ISMETT is one of the few hospitals in Italy to have received accreditation from Joint Commission International (JCI) since 2009, and one of the six hospitals to have achieved ERAM, HIMSS Stage 6 certification.

The minimum requirements to be eligible to apply are the following:

• University degree qualifying for the nursing profession, recognized in Italy or equivalent title.
• Enrollment in the Italian Board of Registered Nurses.
• English proficiency.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).  ACLS required within 1 year of hire.
• Eligibility for US credentialling and licensure in Pennsylvania.
• To work in the US, nurses will have to pass the NCLEX-RN exam and obtain CGFNS certification.

Preferred titles:

• Successful completion of selection process within IRCCS ISMETT or other Center of UPMC Italy group
• International working experience

Being motivated and self-starting, being adaptive to change, critical thinking skills, and team working are also instrumental to the role.

Applicants must meet the abovementioned requirements of this call when filing the application. Selected nurses will be asked to make a two-year work commitment in the US.
