UPMC Italy’s clinical and scientific activity mainly focuses on transplantation and oncology, but also involves other specialties: from emergency medicine to neurosurgery, from preventive medicine to cardiac surgery.

UPMC Italy offers professional opportunities in an international and multicultural setting at IRCCS ISMETT (Istituto Mediterraneo per i Trapianti e Terapie ad Alta Specializzazione) one of the most technologically advanced and state-of-the-art medical centers in Italy, managed by UPMC (University of Pittsburgh Medical Center) in partnership with Civico Hospital and the Ri.MED Foundation.

IRCCS ISMETT offers solid organ transplant programs for adults and pediatric patients, and is specialized in advanced cardiothoracic and vascular therapies, including ventricular assistance and ECMO support. Thanks to the available state-of-the-art technology, after completing an appropriate orientation and training program, the newly-hired specialist will be able to manage the most complex cases from an anesthesia and reanimation standpoint. The selected candidate will also have the opportunity to review and practice all anesthesia and critical area procedures at ISMETT, such as positioning an ECMO, IABP or a pulmonary catheter, performing a percutaneous tracheostomy, and using a transesophageal echocardiogram for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes, to name just some of the most complex procedures.

IRCCS ISMETT is the ideal workplace for young postgraduates wishing to increase their knowledge of anesthesia in the field of organ transplantation and advanced cardiothoracic therapies, and for expert anesthesiologists who will join a highly qualified and welcoming team.
