IRCCS ISMETT is provided with a state-of-the-art cardiac surgery center where close to 800 extracorporeal circulation procedures are performed annually. The procedures, performed with the most modern minimally invasive techniques, encompass all adult cardiovascular diseases, including valve diseases, ischemic heart diseases, thoracic aneurysms, and congenital heart diseases. A heart transplant and mechanical circulatory support program is also available for patients with end-stage cardiac decompensation who cannot undergo conventional surgery. We are seeking young specialized physicians interested in embarking on a cardiac surgery fellowship program. The selected candidate will be involved in the daily activity of our Cardiac Surgery Unit, including medical rounds and OR activity.

Requisites:

• Degree in Medicine and Surgery recognized in Italy, or equivalent title.
• Postgraduate diploma in Cardiac Surgery recognized in Italy, or equivalent title (already obtained or to be obtained by the first quarter of 2022.).
• Enrollment in the professional board.
• Compliance with mandatory vaccination for the prevention of SARS-CoV-2 infection referred to in art. 4 and 4-ter of Decree-law 44/2021 (without prejudice to unenforceability of the vaccination obligation resulting from a confirmed risk for personal health due to specific, documented clinical conditions reported by the general practitioner, in compliance with the memorandum issued by the Italian Ministry of Health on exemptions from the vaccine against SARS-CoV-2 obligation, as provided for by art. 4, para. 2, Decree-law 44/2021).

Preferred qualifications:

• Previous training/professional experience in other transplant centers in Europe or United States of America.
• Scientific production rated with the H-index (to be specified in the CV).

Other requisites: English proficiency, inclination for research activity, knowledge of main computer applications, strong motivation, flexibility, stress management, problem solving, interpersonal and communication skills. Good teamwork abilities; flexibility.

Workplace: Palermo.
