UPMC Italy within the scope of DECREE-LAW of 21 March 2022, no. 21, “Urgent measures to counter the economic and humanitarian effects of the Ukrainian crisis”, offers UKRAINIAN ANESTHESIOLOGISTS the opportunity to temporarily practice their profession at IRCCS ISMETT in derogation from regulations on recognition of professional medical qualifications.

IRCCS ISMETT Department of Anesthesia and Intensive Care
IRCCS ISMETT offers solid organ transplant programs for adults and pediatric patients, and is specialized in advanced cardiothoracic and vascular therapies, including ventricular assistance and ECMO support.
The Department of Anesthesia and Intensive Care is responsible for all perioperatory phases, including ERAS (Enhanced Recovery After Surgery) programs for all surgeries and/or Acute Pain Service. It also manages a multidisciplinary 20-bed ICU and about 1,100 admissions every year. Since 2009, an ECMO-TEAM rescue program has been in operation.
Thanks to the available state-of-the-art technology, after completing an appropriate orientation and training program, the newly-hired specialist will be able to manage the most complex cases from an anesthesia and reanimation standpoint. The selected candidate will also have the opportunity to review and practice all anesthesia and critical area procedures at ISMETT, such as positioning an ECMO, IABP or a pulmonary catheter, performing a percutaneous tracheostomy, and using a transesophageal echocardiogram for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes.

Who can apply
Health professionals who are Ukrainian nationals, legally residing in Ukraine before 24 February 2022, holders of a European Qualifications Passport for Refugees, who intend to practice their medical profession in Italy on the basis of qualifications obtained abroad, governed by specific EU directives.
- Degree in Medicine and Surgery.
- Specialization in Anesthesia and Critical Care.
- Good knowledge of English or Italian.
- Compliance with the vaccine obligations for the prevention of SARS-CoV-2 infection referred to in art. 4 and 4ter of Decree-Law no. 44/2021 (without prejudice to cases of no obligation to vaccination).
