The 11th Transatlantic Award Gala Dinner organized by the American Chamber of Commerce in Italy (AmCham) took place on December 5th, 2016 at East End Studios – Studio 90 in Milan. More than 600 guests attended including top managers, media representatives, opinion leaders, and high officials.
John R. Phillips, US Ambassador to Italy, and Armando Varricchio, Ambassador of Italy to the United States, both honorary presidents of AmCham Italy, also participated.
AmCham Italy is a private, non-profit-making organization. It is affiliated with the Chamber of Commerce of the United States of America, a network of more than 100 US Chambers of Commerce in 91 countries with more than three million member companies. AmCham Italy was established in 1915 in Milan to promote and foster economic and cultural relationships between Italy and the United States.
During the gala dinner, the Transatlantic Awards were given to American and Italian leading management and entrepreneurial figures who distinguished themselves promoting and developing transatlantic relations between Italy and the United States in 2016. UPMC is one of the winners of the Transatlantic Award, together with other outstanding companies, like Amazon and the Barilla Group. UPMC was awarded with the following motivation: for the considerable investments made in Italy over the past years that allowed UPMC to consolidate its presence in our country in the fields of health care and research. The most recent example is the investment made in Tuscany with a focus on prevention and medical rehabilitation, and the relaunch of the Terme di Chianciano, one of the most famous spa resorts in Italy.

UPMC Italy manages and funds several national and international research projects for technological development and training in the fields of biotechnology and regenerative medicine.
